BAND RADAR: ICEAGE

The first few seconds of the Danish punk rocker’s first single, “White Rune”  is nothing short of exhilarating and should be downloaded asap! Their 12-song, 24-minute noise-punk call to arms debut album, New Brigade, is a sonically dense and seductive post-punk power-house that will appeal to both art rock snobs and DIY minded punks.  After five weeks on the road playing rock clubs, house shows, and in-stores with only two days off in that entire stretch, Iceage have also been working on a new video for, “You’re Blessed.” Check it out and download some tracks below:

DON’T MISS THE FINAL SCENE OF CHROMEO’S NEW VIDEO

Careful, Chromeo’s latest video might impregnate you- or so the directors, Daniels, want you to think. Featuring Solange Knowles, “When The Night Falls,” is  entertaining until the way end, (seriously, you don’t want to miss the final scene).

NEW VHS YANKED VIDEO FROM MAYER HAWTHORNE

Check out the VHS-yanked clips for “A Long Time,” Mayer Hawthorne’s first video for his upcoming album “How Do You Do” on Universal. Taken from an old 80’s Detroit public access dance show- I can guarantee some of these people really regret their wardrobe choices…

Reminds us of Jimmy Fallon’s Dance Avenue.  Click HERE to peep the video!

OFFICIAL TEDDYBEARS VIDEO: CHO CHA (FEAT. CEE LO AND THE B-52S)

Here is Teddybears’ official video for “Cho-Cha” feat. Cee-Lo and The B-52’s and starring Jeff Turner (the focus of the documentary ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ about a man stalking Tiffany) directed by Zach Shields. Opening with a bevy of breathless beauties perched on the sofa of a dimly lit room this video is frighteningly clever. Buy it now on iTunes: http://atlr.ec/qceXCx

SUN GLITTERS: LOVE ME (PAPERCUTZ REMIX)

Director Vladimir Miladinović spends his days backstage Fashion Week parties with undressed models. Somehow, he still gets his game on as creative director for campaigns like Puma and shooting covers for Belgrade’s fashion mag, Prestup. We think his lo-fi voyeuristic way of filming his models is a perfect marriage with the Papercutz remix of Sun Glitters “Love Me”.

BAND RADAR: LIFE IN FILM

The latest band to drop onto the discosalt band radar is London pop-rock maestros, Life In Film. They’ve been making a name for themselves in the UK spreading their infectious energy, jangly Smith-like riffs and resolute belief that they are poised to become the soundtrack of conviction for a disenfranchised Britain (and hopefully the good ol US of A), arousing a generation already alienated by a rampant social war declared by David Cameron’s corrupt coalition.
Wearing influences and channeling attitude from The Smiths and Joy Division through to The Strokes, they exhibit an infectious immediacy presented with genuine ingenuity, and their melodic mercurial urban anthems show hints of  stylish Americana, dragging the heart’s emotions from worn, torn to splendid, all firmly rooted in a UK soil still piss-stained by the explosion of punk and New Wave.

NEW VIDEO FROM JUSTICE: CIVILIZATION

Here’s the Edouard Salier bison-adorned new video from Justice for the song “Civilization” from the new record they have dropping later this year on Ed Banger.

NEW VIDEO FROM BATTLES: ICE CREAM

Since Tyondai Braxton left the experimental rock outfit Battles to work on his solo projects, the remaining trio of Ian Williams, Dave Konopka, and drummer John Stanier, are back with a new poppy summertime video for “Ice Cream” off their upcoming album Gloss Drop, dropping June 7 via Warp. The video directed and produced by CANADA is heavy on nude bathing women eating ice cream, women licking roller skates, pinecones, door handles and a schmorgesborg of beach karate.

NEW VACCINES VIDEO: ALL IN WHITE

The Vaccines recently announced their next UK single, “All In White,” and now you can check out their new video for the track, shot in Spin and directed by Canada (Two Door Cinema Club, Scissor Sisters, etc.) The LP What Did You Except From The Vaccines? is out May 31st.

SLASHER? I DON’T EVEN KNOW HER: ANR’S HORROR FLICK

“It all started with the idea of shooting spear hooks through this girls back, through her boobs, into her boyfriends hands.” That’s what ANR’s singer/ drummer, Michael John Hancock, told us was the premise for the bands new slasher film project.  We took the bait too.  So here it is, the music video edit of ANR’s slasher film based on “Big Problem” directed by Lucas Leyva, crewed by the fine folks at Borscht Film Festival, and starring a cast of Miami heroes.  It’s a 5 minute horror epic along the line of  Thriller. Check back with us for the extended 12 minute unrated short film version coming soon too.

OFFICIAL VIDEO + MP3 FROM PALEO’S NEW RECORD

Check out a new mp3 and video from the the amazingly talented & prolific Paleo (think Daniel Johnston and Bob Dylan meets the Violent Femmes). The track is ‘Holly Would’, off his upcoming Partisan Records release Fruit of the Spirit , out June 21.

MOON DUO’S MAZES MOVES TOWARDS MORE POP-DRIVEN SOUND

Moon Duo, the soulfully noisy psychedelic space-rock side-project from Wooden Shjips guitarist Erik Johnson and keyboardist Sanae Yamad, have a new single and a new video for “Mazes”.  Like so many other great artists from Bowie to Liars, the duo transplaned their recording process to Berlin for this album. But, while you might expect a more darker sound, “Mazes” surprisingly moves the band towards a more accessible pop-driven sound, which works in their favor. Watch the video for “Mazes” directed by band-mate Sanae Yamada right here:

NEW VIDEO FROM YUCK: GET AWAY

One of our favorite new bands, Yuck has a new video for the crunchy distorted “Get Away”, directed by “Michael”. With obvious nods  to Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Pavement and My Bloody Valentine, Yuck takes different elements of shoegaze, noise pop, punk and dream pop to form their garage rock aesthetic and undeniably one of the best albums to be released this year.  Follow the band on the road, as they pick up a nymph-like naked female hitchhiker with some serious fat in the can…crisco that is, or maybe olive oil ( hopefully). Things get weird, and greasy.

NEW VIDEO FROM LUMERIANS: GUASSIAN CASTLES

There’s a good chance, even if you are not susceptible to Mary Hart Syndrome, the new video from San Fran psych band Lumerians will give you a seizure. At least that’s the warning the band and director Curtis Tamm have prefaced the rapid landscape flash video for “Guassian Castles”, but we think it might still be worth watching.
