SHEARWATER: HIDDEN LAKES

Following up the divinely tragic Rook, is Shearwater’s new album The Golden Archipelago, released last month. While the album is somewhat of a concept album about living on islands, the new cinematic video for the melancholy track “Hidden Lakes”, directed by Alma Har’el is filmed in a desolate countryside where a sparkly mascara wearing hobo dressed in 1800’s garb loses a small dog. Really, I have no idea what is going on here. Of course nothing Shearwater does is without some deep metaphorical implications for nature, man and our eventual destruction, so this requires a couple views.
