Posted in discosalt, New Art

This Wednesday, July 21 at 6PM, Cuchifritos gallery and project space is pleased to present an artists talk followed by Q & A with renowned artist Susan Stockwell who will discuss her recent projects in China, Taiwan and the US. Susan will touch upon her experiences of creating large scale installations made with recycled materials. She will also talk about the management of these projects, her collaborations with industry, how they see their role and how this varies in different countries.

Susan Stockwell lives and work in London, England. She exhibits in galleries and museums all over the world, including the V&A, London, The Neuberger Museum, New York and The National Museum of China, Beijing. She has taught extensively and taken part in residencies and projects in Europe, America and Asia. She was trained at Sheffield University and the Royal College of Art in London. Susan Stockwell’s work takes many forms from small intricate studies to large-scale installations, sculpture, drawings and collage. She is concerned with issues of ecology, geo-politics, mapping, trade and global commerce. She draws on everyday materials that are domestic, industrial and disposable, the products that pervade our everyday lives. These materials are manipulated and transformed into works of art that are extraordinary.
