Somehow I missed Gus Van Sant’s Paranoid Park in 2007 but finally got around to watching it last night. Maybe it’s my mood of late, but the slow paced guilt driven Oregon based drama coupled with Van Sants stylized super 8Β  cinematography and a well selected gloomy soundtrack are just the perfect storm. The LA times described the films soundscape as “a wash of foreign noise” that “tweak the visual and sonic filter.” The diverse soundtrack features tracks from Elliot Smith, Nino Rota, Beethoven, Menomena, and The Revolts.Β  A really great pairing of music and visuals here that create a dense lonely atmosphere, worth checking out.
