Following her last photo project Rockers, East London native and Discosalt artist Leonie Morse takes another look at youth subculture in the UK.  In her  new project titled Rebel Rebel, Leonie is still playing the time portal game with us. While her lens may have  jumped forward from the 50’s, she is still transporting us back to the 80’s through a series of intimate punk rock portraits.

This work is part of a new project called ‘rebel rebel’ (working title only), a series of portraits of young style icons, capturing them in their individual worlds – their bedrooms. They are all exhibitionists and are totally authentic characters, having real conviction in what they do and who they are. I want to capture the kind of beauty, arrogance and defiance that is unique to people of this age and genre, they are all aged 18-23 and are all ‘punk rock’ in their own way. I am photographing 12 young people for this project, all in the UK, for an exhibition later in the year.
