DIFFERENT STROKES…

While you wait patiently for the Strokes to finally release a 4th album,Β  Julian Casablancas first solo project “Phrazes for the Young” is out next month (October 20) and as expected, some of the tracks have already started leaking on the web. It seems a strange phenomenon, but “Phrazes for the Young”, much like Albert Hammond Jr.’s solo project and even Fab’s Little Joy, sounds just like the Strokes…which for me isn’t necessarily a bad thing but I am sure will draw criticism from all you anti-strokes. The 8 track EP is noticeably more electronic though, with a synthy layered sound that intends to “capture the catchiness of modern music but at the same time the power and seriousness of classical music and older music.” That’s straight from the mouth of Casablancas…we are curious but also concerned as well. Check out the full and first official interview in 3 years with Julian below:

While you are here, let your peepers enjoy the cinematic syth-pop album teaser for “Phrazes for the Young” below from Warren Fu:

Still here? not sick of Julian yet?… stream the new Julian Casablancas single: “11th Dimension”HERE. Looks like a solo tour is in the works for this year as well.
