ANTHONY GORMLEY: BREATHING ROOM III
Standing in the center of artist Anthony Gormley’s art installation “Breathing Room III” at the White Cube gallery in London, you feel as if you’re walking through a digital grid from some early 80’s computer aided drawing, or are amidst some wayward set dressing from the movie Tron.
Once the lights are turned off, you are immersed in a matrix of Photo-luminescent frames and the gallery space is bathed in a soothing blue glow. As the tubular blue lights gradually dim, the viewer is lulled by an increasingly moody, seemingly limitless space. Their fading glow recedes until it becomes a gentle hum; then the lights are turned back on and the tubes recharge for the next round of guests, creating the perfect locale for Tron Guy to have lunch.
