AM + CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG

Tropicalia-loving, genre-defying LA-based musician AM will continue his French connection, as he’ll join Charlotte Gainsbourg’s first ever North American tour immediately following his current stint opening for AIR.  In the midst of the tour, AM will jet home to LA where he will open for his musical idol, Brazilian icon and one of the originators of Tropicalismo, Caetano Veloso, who handpicked AM to help him kick off the award-winning Greek Theatre’s 2010 season.  When I found out he was playing the Greek Theatre I knew I had to buy a ticket immediately, now that I’m opening for him, it’s a dream come true, reveals AM. Caetano’s unique style and master songwriting skills has really inspired my songwriting and he is one of the most important songwriters of our time.
Since its release last month via FILTER US Recordings, AM’s lounge-y indie-pop album, Future Sons & Daughters, has been striking a chord with critics while making a strong impact with audiences, radio and MTV. MTV2’s indie rock showcase Subterranean premiered the video for first single, Self Preservation, last week and KCRW is included in the list of radio tastemakers continuing to champion AM’s soulful, laid-back pop, propelling him into their Top 50 Most Played.
AM’s latest LP pays homage to the musician’s diverse influences, which includes Jorge Ben, Brian Wilson, Sergio Mendes and Curtis Mayfield, while showcasing his own songwriting chops, intelligent lyrics and psychedelic grooves. American Songwriter declared: Future Sons & Daughters is worth every bit of the attention you give it, and then some. Each time you give it a spin you’re bound to come across something new, and that, folks, is the mark of a great album.  Also, AM’s song What You Hide will be featured in NBC’s Friday Night Lights soundtrack album to be released on May 4, 2010.
