Spoon will return with their long awaited eighth offering, They Want My Soul, on August 5 via Loma Vista Recordings. Preorders for the album-lauded by NPR as “unmistakably a Spoon record, with…fantastically infectious grooves and melodies” — are live now at iTunes and Amazon. An exclusive bundle will be available later this week through the band’s store (at www.spoontheband.com) which features, among other desirous items, a limited edition glow-in-the-dark vinyl LP, a t-shirt and handwritten lyric sheets. The first 100 bundle orders will receive an autographed set of lyric sheets. All preorders placed through iTunes and www.spoontheband.com come with an instant download of the album’s lead-off track “Rent I Pay.”

The band has also filmed an unofficial video for They Want My Soul’s “Rent I Pay.”

Britt Daniel and Jim Eno recently talked with Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton for NPR’s All Songs Considered about the recording process behind the record and its sonic elements. The All Songs Considered segment is currently streaming here.
