What: Halloween Movie Marathon

If you want a cheap scare that doesnt involve water birth or getting drunk in Canarsie, check out some freaky flicks at the Brooklyn Lyceum where they will be screening classic horror movies like Dracula, Night of the Living Dead and the Rocky Horror Picture show on two 25-foot projection screens.

What: Critical Mass Ride and After-Party

This months ride starts at Union Square and costumes are encouraged. The after party starts at Surreal Estate, with dance music by the Rude Mechanical Orchestra, an activist marching band that covers Le Tigre and Beyoncé. You heard me. Food, complements of the Critical mass “diving team”. For the lay men, “dumpster diving”…so uh yeah, maybe have a bite before you head out.

What: Crystal Stilts, Religious Knives, Vivian Girls, Wooden Ships

Megapromoter Todd P. is somehow involved in this party at Lombardy Street featuring eerie atmospheric rockers Crystal Stilts and not so spooky Vivian Girls. A good mix of intense performances, a killer rooftop patio overlooking the Midtown skyline, the Greenpoint industrial district and the Kosciusko Bridge, and no neighbors. Hopefully as the fun a crowd as the acoustic BBQ. Just too bad the “White Diamonds wont be there to share some more candy with us…

The 1970’s cinematic phenomenon of Midnight movies continues on Houston Street with Midnight screenings this month of cult films like Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice, The Lost Boys and Wes Cravens A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. We are still in debate as to who scares us more, Freddy, The two Coreys, or Michael Keaton in a starring role. Whatever you do, dont fall asleep.
