Hurray For The Riff Raff are a New Orleans based, three piece indie-folk/blues rock band. The band started when a teenaged Alynda Lee Segarra began hopping trains, traveling across the country while learning to play banjo. Eventually she settled in New Orleans, and allowed music to take hold of her life. She quickly embraced the city’s community of street musicians, who encouraged her to develop her banjo skills and sing old jazz songs. She was soon performing with traditional jazz bands on the sidewalks of the French Quarter, playing and singing while learning from the music of the city she loves.
They bring delicate wanderings of old souls and spirits from the past into the wide open spaces of consciousness. They are influenced by the sounds of classic country like Hank Williams Sr, 1960’s Rock n Roll, and master singer/songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Neil Young.
