EP Free Download – Body Language : Grammar

In preparation of their upcoming second full-length album, Body Language are releasing their Grammar EP for free download on their website! The full-length album, also titled Grammar is set to drop in Summer of 2013 on Lavish Habits. This five-track EP shows how the Brooklyn quartet’s sound has grown since their highly-lauded Social Studies LP; these new sounds streamline the band’s restless pop experiments with a future-shocked blend of soul and R&B. Or as they put it, “Our world still exists in an indie- disco bubble; we’re just pushing the limits of every genre to a point where the bubble’s about to pop.”

MP3 – Caveman : In the City

Caveman—a five-man vibe collective from NYC—released their first album in 2011. As first albums go, CoCo Beware was something akin to a moody statement of intent, a blueprint for a band quickly learning how to create horizon-wide rock songs that were equal parts intimate and expansive.

On their self-titled sophomore album Caveman stretch their legs in a number of different, albeit cohesive, directions.

MP3 – Nervous Nellie : Gloves

Stockholm’s Nervous Nellie make their American debut with the infectious indie romp “Gloves”. The Gloves EP which showcases four indie pop gems, plus a remix by The Shout Out Louds’ Adam Olenius, will be released on February 12th.

“The idea for the song came after hearing an old Tom Petty drum pattern on an oldies station when out driving one day. After building the beat at the breakfast table the following morning the rest just came naturally. For every writing & recording process there is always that one defining song that helps decide the overall direction & vibe of the final body of work, this is that song for us now. We wanted to do something different from what we’ve done before & we are confident we have succeeded. The fact that Henriks wife finds the verses of “Gloves” to somehow be a little “icky-sounding” tells us that.

Video – Nite Jewel : Memory, Man

Nite Jewel has a new video for her song “Memory, Man” directed by Angus Borsos of Helium Castle Pictures. The gorgeous and enigmatic video takes the viewer through an Michel Gondry-esque dreamscape. Borsos’ cinematography and creative composition evoke the feeling of being inside someone’s memory.
Borsos offers this director’s statement:
Hypnotized by a blue sky — dark blue started to drip down my spine and I started to dream things up behind the front of my eyes. Leading up to working with Ramona I felt that most of the images I was being exposed to were lacking an undercurrent — that I was lacking an undercurrent, that images were being carefully placed as opposed to being carefully grown. Tunnelling with the song I started to see the video as a trunk of rich still life paintings — Ramona as a living statue on a stage, looking through the many dimensions of her memory; no reality. I hoped that it would read like a timeless old book of her past (or yours) that she (or you) can’t quite place — but somehow managed to record in startlingly high resolution — proof that it’s there (for now), and that memory is camouflage.

Directed by comedy writer and director Scott Jacobson of Bob’s Burgers, The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live and awesome music videos – Pierce The Morning Rain answers the question of what happens when you shake up the typical American, suburban lifestyle with dB drag racing. The video stars actor James Urbaniak (Homeland, The Venture Brothers) and comedian Maria Bamford as the couple whose lives become transformed by playing Dinosaur Jr. as loudly as current technology allows.
J Mascis will appear on an upcoming episode of IFC’s Portlandia. We have no idea what is going on the in above picture, but J looks great in braids, and it’ll broadcast on Friday, January 25th at 10pm ET.
