NEW VIDEO FROM EL GUINCHO: BOMBAY

Discosalt Video of The Week 03/10/10: Spanish psyche-tropicalia artist El Guincho’s new video for “Bombay”, directed by Nicolás Méndez  is also the trailer for Mendez’ new film by the same name… and leaves, well,  little to the imagination.  Some bs about the Cosmos and then a lot of  boobies, foot sucking, women licking branches, naked women jumping into pools, playing with fireworks, cracking eggs, killing stuffies and vacuuming. You only wish your weekend was this fun. Not safe for work, unless you work in a cat house.

NEW VIDEO FROM MOON DUO: KILLING TIME

Discosalt Video of the Week 9/19/10: Video for “Killing Time” from Moon Duo, the soulfully noisy psychedelic space-rock side-project from Wooden Shjips guitarist Erik Johnson and keyboardist Sanae Yamad. Hidden under walls of trippy reverb that recalls Velvet Underground, Suicide, Silver Apples and Spaceman 3, is, as their name suggests (Coltrane and Rashied Ali), an experimental jazz resolve rocketing through outer space. The video directed by Jacqueline Castel finds the duo fittingly trekking across an other worldly landscape.

Discosalt video of the week 7/12/10: We can’t get enough of this new video for Window from the Australian trio PVT (formerly know as Pivot) from their upcoming album Church With No Magic to be released this August.

We’re positive that PVT’s video for “Window” is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. It’s shot in the most creative way, using unique camera techniques that give the perspective that the viewer is one of the members of PVT. From the practice space to the live performance, the camera is never still, shaking with the rhythm of the song as you look over all aspects of PVT’s production – drums, keyboards, laptops and mixboards all included. Timing is everything, especially when the bridge kicks in and the scene changes to the live performance, overlooking a packed audience. You get a real sense of what it’s like looking from the other side, and it’s definitely a full body music video experience.

These Australian electronic/experimental rockers are definitely bringing it all they’ve got. What initially started as an improvisational five-piece band back in 1999 by brothers Richard Pike and Laurence Pike has evolved a decade later into a refined trio pushing the boundaries of their genre. When electronica artist Dave Miller joined the brothers in 2005, they were set, later touring with the likes of music giants Arctic Monkeys and Sigur Ros.

FREE MP3: TAME IMPALA: WHY DON’T YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND

Discosalt Video of the Week 20/6/10: Aussie buzz band Tame Impala have released a new stoner friendly video for “Why don’t you make up your mind”  off Innerspeaker, out this month. Taking a slightly different visual cue from the cinematic “Solitude is Bliss” video, which featured a post-apocalyptic anti-dog world, the trio perform their warm psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock in a field of grass, which clearly the band is familiar with.
