Guerilla filmaker Brendan Toller, along side Fugazi/Minor Threat’s Ian MacKaye, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, activist Noam Chomsk,  Patti Smith’s guitarist Lenny Kaye, Chris Frantz of the Talking Heads,  Pat Carney of the Black Keys, Rock Photographer Bob Gruen, BP Helium guitarist from Of Montreal and some other assorted artists and musicians have made a documentary that examines the vanishing subculture of the indie record store and why over 3000 stores have closed in the US over the past decade.  I need that Record: The Death (or possible survival) of the Independent Record Store, first hit indie record store shelves on Saturday,  but will be offered exclusively via indie record stores for the next 90 days, so go pick up a copy.  You can check out a preview below:
