I SEE “YOU GO GIRL”

2393563604_1af1a1ae671

Do you know why you’re afraid when you’re alone? I do…

There’s a scene at the end of the Sixth Sense where Bruce Willis finally realizes he’s a ghost and there are ghosts walking all around him like regular people who only see what they want to…I had a similar revelation when I realized that the “You Go Girl” street art on Avenue A was not an isolated graffiti but that “YGG” is among us everyday…you just have to want to see it. It’s all over and it’s not just in NYC. “YGG” has been spotted in California, New Orleans, Portland and Austin and the legend is growing. There’s even a flickr group dedicated to it…still waiting for the facebook invite. Sources close to Discosalt have told us there is just one prolific guy responsible, running around the country spreading his nationa message of girl power like some feminist Johnny Appleseed. You Go Girl!

HOTTT FOR SANTI

On my way home from work tonight I hopped into the Virgin Mega Store at Union Square to check out a live performance by Santogold (aka Santi White). I was quite excited when I found out she would be playing so close to my apartment as I have wanted to go and see her for some time now. She played a good number of tracks off of her long awaited self-titled album recently released on Downtown Records.

Santogold, originally from Philly and more recently from Brooklyn, played to a full house and exceeded my expectations of an energetic and charismatic live stage performance.
